Bitera, a premium data center provider in Indonesia with global standards and advanced technology, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII). This collaboration underscores Bitera’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s digital backbone by providing reliable infrastructure that expands internet access nationwide.
Through this partnership, all data traffic exchanges under the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) will be fully hosted at Bitera’s premium data center facilities. This enables APJII members to connect directly to a stable, low-latency national peering ecosystem that ensures faster and more efficient connectivity across the archipelago.
According to APJII, national internet traffic has grown more than tenfold, from 1.3 Tbps in 2021 to 14 Tbps by the end of 2024 during peak periods, in line with Indonesia’s internet penetration rate reaching 80.66%. As of 2025, 229.4 million of the country’s 284.4 million citizens are now online, with Java and Sumatra contributing the largest shares of connected users at 58.14% and 20.51%, respectively.
“Bitera is committed to supporting the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem through premium data center infrastructure for IIX. Positioned as a reliable and high-performance traffic exchange hub, Bitera is designed to deliver speed, stability, and scalability, empowering businesses and communities to thrive in the digital era,” said Tedy Harjanto, CEO of Bitera.
Muhammad Arif, Chairman of APJII, added that the initiative aligns with APJII’s mission to expand IIX’s reach and deliver greater value for members. “Today, digital transformation is no longer optional. A strong, neutral interconnection hub is essential to ensure equitable and efficient connectivity. Our partnership with Bitera goes beyond technical integration, it lays the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive digital future for Indonesia,” he said.
Bitera guarantees 99.999% service availability (five-nines), allowing less than five minutes of downtime per year, ensuring consistent, reliable access for users nationwide.
As a Carrier-Neutral Data Center, Bitera provides open and neutral access for internet service providers, telecom operators, and digital ecosystem players. The facility features the highest number of fiber entry points in its area and is strategically located less than 500 meters from Indonesia’s main internet exchange hub. These advantages deliver optimal access, high scalability, extensive interconnections, and cost-efficient connectivity.
Bitera operates a Tier III+ standard data center with a capacity approaching 30 MW, powered by dual PLN substations to ensure maximum uptime and operational security. The company is also committed to sustainability, operating with 100% Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) to reduce its carbon footprint and support Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 target.
